Reisverslag Dunedin + Wanaka.

Dunedin + Wanaka.
It has been quite a while since I posted something, that is beause I've had an amazing time! I'll try to not make this a huge post... It all started in Wellington where I could stay at Jack's (camino friend) place, share camino stories and had some time to organize myself a new WWOOFING (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWOOF) place. When I got an e-mail that a host in Dunedinhad a drumset I booked a flight ticket straight away!
At arrival in Dunedin there was the clasical scene o f a person standing with a cupboard with a name on it. In this case the nam eon the cupboard was Mike, my travel name:). When I stepped trough the doors of my host's house I noticed straight away that it was a mess, there was stuff everywhere you looked. Turned out they had some sort of 2nd hand/antique store (0.07 in vid) . I worked 1 day in the shop and for the rest I did mainly gardening. Went for a little day walk and a very nice bike trip! After a week I left and decided that I wanted to hitchhike to Wanaka.
It was raining when I started hitchhiking at 9:00 o'clock (0.53) but I got lucky and got picked up very quick. I got dropped of at a road where I thought there would be loads of cars but it turned out to be empty. But I didn't care, I really felt like I was on a big adventure!:) I got a few more short rides until a man picked me up at about 13:00 and told me he left Dunedin 1,5 hours ago. He was very nice and even offered me to go fishing with him in Roxbourgh. It was really tempting but I knew the weather forecast was really good and I couldn't wait any longer to start tramping in Wanaka so I got out of the car at Roxbourgh. In Roxbourgh it was really sunny but my luck turned. I waited more then 2 hours before I got a ride to Alexandra. Got another ride from Alexandra to Cromwell and just before it became to dark to hitchhike I got my ride from Cromwell to Wanaka at about 19:00 pm I arrived. It took me 10 hours (3,5h driving time) but it was an amazing adventure!
In Wanaka my roommate turned out to walk up Roy's peak the next day and I could come along with him. It was a really easy walk but we had very nice sights over wanaka's lake and even saw mt Aspiring! My new friend brought some chocolate cookies to the top and told me I could eat te whole pack of cookies if I wanted. (David, hij had ook lang haar en hield van metal dus je bent vervangbaar!) The next day I went to the DOC office and asked for some advice on a multi day walk. The lady that helped me was really nice and advised me to walk the Motatapu track. I decided to do it. So I bought cooking gear, thermal clothes, left some of my stuff in the hostel and left for a walk from Wanaka to Arrowtown. I o saw some cows at the start of the track and some sheep on the top of Knuckle's peak (bout 1800m), but I didn't see any humans for 3 days!
It was exciting, scary (if I would fall and break something I would be in shit, no one around, no reception), beautiful, exhausting, wonderful, ah well I ques the movie describes it better.
There is way more to tell (more walks, hunting, plucking ducks, angry farmer, experimental cooking and more) since this only shortly describes 2 weeks but I don't have the time today anymore. I'm gonna go to sleep and get up early tomorrow to get my Mongolian Visa. Maybe i'll post some more afterwards.
Oh by the way, I"m doing very good and feeling very good, I am a little bit sad that I only have 2 more weeks in New Zealand, but I am very
excited about going to Japan in 2 weeks where I'll meet more camino budies!!

Heerlijk man. In drie dagen natuur zonder mens kan je meerleren dan tijdens een jaar studeren. Er komt straks een wijs man naar Embrun :)
